About Us
Tumulty Contracting, LLC is a family-owned home improvement company based in Westminster, MD, serving homeowners throughout Carroll County and Central Maryland. Fully licensed and insured, the business is built on hard work, reliability, and a straightforward approach—show up, do the job right, and treat people fairly.
Owner John Tumulty got his start in construction early, working alongside his dad on roofing and gutter jobs. At the time, it was just something he did growing up, but looking back, it’s where he picked up a lot of the fundamentals that still matter today: attention to detail, work ethic, and taking pride in the finished product.
Like a lot of people, his path wasn’t a straight line. He went to McDaniel College, worked in retail management for a while, and later became a full-time PE teacher. But over time, he found himself coming back to construction, taking on projects for friends, helping people improve their homes, and realizing how much he genuinely enjoyed the work. What started as side jobs gradually turned into something bigger, eventually leading to the creation of Tumulty Contracting.
Today, the company handles a wide range of residential projects, including kitchen and bathroom remodeling, flooring, drywall and painting, carpentry, and deck construction. Some jobs are simple updates, others are full transformations, but either way, the focus stays the same: solid workmanship, clear communication, and results that hold up over time.
One thing that really matters to John is making the process easier for homeowners. A lot of people feel overwhelmed when it comes to home projects, especially if they’ve had bad experiences in the past. He takes the time to walk people through their options, answer questions, and offer honest input, even if that means recommending a more practical or cost-effective solution.
Outside of work, John is a husband and a father of four, and that perspective carries into how he approaches each project. A home isn’t just another job site; it’s where people live their day-to-day lives. That’s why the goal is always to create spaces that are not only well-built, but comfortable, functional, and made to last.
He also believes in doing right by people, even when it’s not the easiest or most profitable path, taking the time to help homeowners who may feel overwhelmed and making sure they’re taken care of from start to finish.
